Xpress Pro Mike Swauger edition review by rcracing.com

Source:  http://www.rcracing.com/Page.cfm?InfoID=839

A few years ago, Xpress came out with their first Sedan. If I remember right, a month or so after the car came out, it dominated it's first big race at Revelation's in LA. I remember everyone was amazed with the car and for a while it was the hottest car around. Xpress can come a ways since their first sedan, let's check out what the newest one has for us! ;)

DAY 1 (assembly): I opened up the box to find a car that was already 90% assembled!!! All I had to do the get the car ready to run was build the shocks, and install the electronics. I called Mr. Xpress himself (Mike Swauger) and got the setup from him. The first thing I was to do was take the sway bars off front and rear, he said that he only uses them on carpet. Second thing was change the shock positions, that's easy enough eh? Mike said since the car comes with Diff's (instead of one-ways'), you should set the car up a little stiffer. I decided to go with the 3 hole pistons with 60wt in the front and 50wt in the rear, and Yokomo Orange springs all the way around. According to Mike, if you are to run one-ways, run the 3 hold pistons with 40wt in the front and 30wt in the rear with Picco's short baby blues in the front and the Yokomo TC Yellows in the rear.

After the shocks were done I started on the electronics. My test equipment was:

LRP V7.1 ESC
KO Propo KR-297FZ receiver (comes with the Mars)
KO Propo Mars 97R Radio
Airtronics 94157 Steering Servo
Orion TOP Chrome 9x2

Installing the electronics was no problem. The only thing that I had to do was file down the top plate just a hair because the Airtronics servo was a little too big to fit in the slot.

Setting the Xpress up is SUPER easy with the threaded shocks and set-screw down stops. To start off, Mike said to run about 4.5mm of ride height front and rear, with about 2mm of down travel and 1mm in the front. I set the camber to -1 degree all the way around, set the tweak, and I was ready to hit the track!

The Assembly of the Xpress was extremely painless! During the setup of the car, I noticed that the Pre Built Diff's were as smooth as glass and adjusted PERFECTLY! All the arms dropped freely with a practically no slop anywhere in the car.

DAY 2 (at the track): Mike and headed up to Speedworld Raceway to run the car during the week. I charged a few packs, threw on Yokomo's 138G, and headed out on the track. After getting the steering straight etc etc. I took a few slow laps just to kinda get used to it. One thing that I could see was the EXTREMELY free driver train, the car had FLAT OUT horseys! For the first battery on the track I was very impressed, the rear end was lacking a little traction coming out of corners. I moved the rear camber link on the shock tower to the lowest hole, threw in another pack and the car was dialed.. The car has quite a bit of steering but the rear end stays planted, it's also very stable under breaking. Even if you are entering a turn a little hot, the car will stay straight if you lightly tap the brakes.

All in all, the Xpress pro is Cheep (around $220.00), 90% pre built, and can be competitive with VERY few hop ups. Looking at Swaugers car, some other small hop-ups include a Kimbrough 96T 48pitch Spur gear, Tamiya white Servo Saver, and the Springs. The Only thing that I could see which required any modifying was the top plate for the Servo (which you only have to do for Airtronics servo's may I add).

Feel Free to Mail Me if you have any question!

Special Thanks Mike Swauger for all the help with the car, Mr. & Mrs. Mok for the Xpress Pro Kit, and Billy Bowerman from Speedworld for letting us run the car there! THANKS again to you all from RCRacing.com!! =)

Team Associated 1:10 TC6.1 World Champion Touring Car Kit #ASS-30108

Team Associated 1:10 TC6.1 World Champion Touring Car Kit #ASS-30108

Team Associated RC10TC6.1 Worlds Car kit builds upon the already-successful R.O.A.R. and B.R.C.A. national championship-winning TC6.1 platform with several performance-enhancing upgrades that boost the car to the next level.

Team Associated TC6.1 WC features a new ultra-narrow 2.25mm-thick carbon-fiber chassis with optimized flex along with maximum chassis-roll ground clearance. The new narrow chassis helps reduce chassis drag during the hardest cornering. Also included in the TC6.1 WC are the Factory Team Vertical Ballstud Bearing Caps. Previously available only as a Factory Team upgrade, the vertical ballstud bearing caps provide finer increments of adjustment. This increased adjustability will allow the racer to tune the suspension with even more precision than before. Rear hub carriers and caster blocks feature integrated inserts for caster and rear-toe angle adjustment. This means you can adjust these angles by merely changing the inserts and not the whole assembly.

Front and rear anti-roll bars feature the H.D.R.C. (High Definition Roll Control) system. Roll stiffness is controlled and adjusted by the two wires that mount into the sides of an aluminum center member and link to the suspension arms. The aluminum center member rolls on a bearing surface to reduce friction and provide ultra-precise movement.

The lightweight rear gear differential provides maximum performance, adjustability, and low maintenance, while the front spool features replaceable composite outdrives that still retain the low-friction, free-movement performance of the CVA blades.

Symmetrical blue aluminum bulkheads are compatible with TC6 chassis components. Factory Team VCS3 shocks feature hard-anodized threaded bodies with bottom-loaded seals. The VCS3 shocks are super smooth and have increased stroke, all adding up to improved traction. Multiple Ackermann adjustment positions, improved steering input rate, and Blue Titanium turnbuckles with eyelet ballcups, all add up to an easier-to-tune platform.

Drive the same car that won the 2012 R.O.A.R. national modified touring car championship - drive the RC10TC6.1 Worlds Car!

Sakura CS Sport 1:10 RC Drift Car Kit by 3Racing

3Racing will soon release a new 1:10 RC Touring Car, Sakura CS Sport!  Their Gift Box is ready & we can expect they will avaialable in market pretty soon!

Sakura CS Sport (Item No: Sakura-03) is specially designed for RC Drift Car fans as it is equipped with the CS-Gear system. Another feature is you can enjoy the fun of 4WD, FF, FR all in one car by some simple modification!

3-Racing Sakura D3 CS Drift Sport Features
    Front motor drift chassis
Designed for CS modified drift style
    3 belt driven chassis
    Lateral battery position
    Low profile design
    Additional steering angle
    Integrated rear diffuser

What is Countersteer (CS)??
Countersteering is the act of turning the tires of your car into the direction of the skid to prevent the car from oversteering or spinning. Even in 50/50 drifting there are situations that require some countersteering technique to keep the car in control. In the RC drifting world, CS drifting refers to changing the drive ratio of the front, rear or both differential. By changing the drive ratio, the power distribution of the car will no longer be 50% front and rear. If the power distribution is differed by for example: 30% front and 70% rear, then the car behaves more like a RWD car; similar to a real drift car. This makes the car more difficult to drive due to the rear wheels trying to out-drive the front wheels of the car. This leads to more countersteering and also adds to the realism of scale drifting.  (Source: http://driftmission.com)

CS is achieved by a couple of methods:
Underdrive (UD): Increasing the drive ratio of the front differential, the front ratio is larger than the rear.
Overdrive (OD): Decreating the drive ratio of the rear differentail, the rear ratio is smaller than the front.
